I picked up this book not knowing what to expect from the controversial Secretary of Defense. I was pleasantly surprised by a terrific read, full of insights on how to manage people and businesses, and how to lead a successful career. You don't have to be a Donald Rumsfeld to like this book -- and to learn from it. There's a great chapter on how to run a meeting, another one on how to hire someone, another on working in a bureaucracy, another on how to serve the boss well. The book is chock full of practical tips that are just as useful for a mom running a household as a CEO running a Fortune 500 company.
If you have some someone in your family graduating college or high school, this is a perfect book to send them off to their next stage in life. They'll be better prepared for whatever comes next.
